This project is a key supporting facility for the Phase II large combined-cycle power plant in Syr Darya, Uzbekistan. The intake is located in the river, and the outlet is adjacent to the river, with maximum water depth in the construction area reaching 5 meters. As the first EPC foundation pit support project undertaken by the Group Company overseas, the project was fully executed by the Group Company from design to construction, fully demonstrating its comprehensive technical strength in geotechnical engineering under complex hydrogeological conditions.
Construction commenced in September 2024 and was completed in October 2025, successfully achieving quality acceptance and the goal of "zero accidents" in occupational health, safety, and environmental protection. The project adopted a steel pipe pile cofferdam support system. A total of 105 steel pipe piles were completed for the intake and 96 steel pipe piles for the outlet, complemented by systematic support measures including interlock sealing, steel strut installation, and dynamic monitoring.
To address the core challenges of underwater construction, the project team formulated special measures: each interlock was inspected and repaired before delivery, coated with grease, and filled with water-swellable waterstop strips, effectively controlling cofferdam water seepage to 0.6 m³/h, below the code limit. During cofferdam construction, the principle of "support as excavation proceeds" was followed, with steel struts installed in layers and prestressed. Combined with dynamic monitoring of pile top displacement and strut axial forces, potential hazards were promptly alerted and addressed, ensuring overall stability of the cofferdam structure with no collapses, water inrushes, or sand boils.
Furthermore, the project complied with IFC international standards and multiple national codes, with personnel from over ten countries involved. The project team established standardized quality and safety procedures, strengthened NCR closed-loop management, and achieved rapid problem response. A 200 kW generator ensured reliable power supply, while optimized steel pipe pile stacking and construction processes enhanced resource adaptability for overseas projects, accumulating valuable experience for the company's expansion into the international piling market.
